Every race in Kentucky is a math problem. I read it straight.

About The 120

The numbers desk of Tanner Norkus Consulting.

I'm Lisa Norkus — over twenty years of Kentucky Democratic campaign operations. Field, finance, party-building, the boring parts of running for office that actually decide who wins. I built The 120 to publish what I see in the numbers before, during, and after a cycle: straight, without spin, with the receipts.

The receipts

20+ yrs

Kentucky Democratic operative

Working campaigns and party infrastructure across the commonwealth since 2004.

120

Counties, one GOTV plan — 2007

Beshear–Mongiardo. The first operative to coordinate all 120 Kentucky counties on a single election-weekend operation.

$2.95

Cost per vote — 2016 U.S. Senate

Jim Gray for U.S. Senate: 42.7% in a Trump-wave year, one of the most cost-efficient Democratic Senate runs in the modern Kentucky dataset.

How I read it

Everything here is reconciled to two sources: the Kentucky Secretary of State's results and the county clerks' SOVCs. When those two disagree, I don't pick the convenient one — I show the disagreement.

And I publish the read even when it's bad for my own side. A number that only tells you what you want to hear isn't analysis, it's a press release. The honesty is the whole point — it's what makes the good news worth anything.
